Women-led, climate-smart farming rooted in Kajiado.
Kijani Hydroponics Farm Ltd is building a 10-acre hydroponic farm in Kajiado County, Kenya — designed to grow nutritious vegetables, create decent jobs for women and youth, and demonstrate what climate-smart agriculture can look like in practice.
Who we are
Kijani Hydroponics Farm Ltd is a women-led agribusiness in Kajiado. We combine modern soilless farming techniques with community training and local hiring to deliver nutritious produce, steady incomes, and climate resilience.
Our mission
- Build a 10-acre climate-smart hydroponic farm in Kajiado.
- Prioritize direct employment and skills training for women and youth.
- Demonstrate a financially viable model that can be replicated across Kenya and East Africa.
Why we focus on women
Most new employment in Kenya is still in informal sectors — such as construction and casual labour — that systematically favour men. Women are more likely to be in insecure, underpaid work with limited protection or progression.
By building women-centered roles in agribusiness (operations, nursery management, packaging, sales), we create pathways to stable income, specialised skills, and leadership in climate-smart food systems.
Women-centered roles
- Hydroponic system operations & monitoring
- Nursery management & seedling production
- Post-harvest handling, packaging & quality control
- Sales, customer relationships & community outreach
Every greenhouse, nursery unit, and packaging line is an opportunity to build long-term, dignified work for women and young people.
Building a model for climate-smart, women-centered agriculture.
As Kijani Hydroponics Farm grows, the goal is simple: prove that women-led hydroponic farms can be financially sustainable, climate-resilient, and deeply rooted in community wellbeing — then replicate that model across Kenya and the region.
